Michelle Yeoh has been cast as one of the leads in the upcoming science-fiction limited series Blade Runner 2099, reports Variety.
The program will serve as a follow-up to Blade Runner 2049, which was originally released in 2017.
Although plot specifics are currently being withheld from the public, sources stated that the 61-year-old actress - who recently wore a tin foil-inspired gown to the Met Gala - will portray an aging replicant named Olwen.
Amazon declined to offer any details about the feature's characters when approached for comment.
The Blade Runner franchise is based on Phillip K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, which was originally published in 1968.

The book was later adapted into the Ridley Scott-directed film Blade Runner, which was released in 1982.
The Harrison Ford-starring feature was centered on a police officer who was assigned to track down a group of rogue synthetic humanoids.
The film, which also starred Sean Young, Rutger Hauer and Edward James Olmos, has received widespread critical acclaim in the years since its release.
Blade Runner was succeeded by Blade Runner 2049, which was helmed by Dune director Denis Villeneuve.
The feature starred Ryan Gosling as a replicant who discovered a conspiracy that led him to track down Rick Deckard, Ford's character from the original film.
The film received generally positive reviews from critics and was put up for several Academy Awards.
The movie was also preceded by the release of three short films.
In addition, an animated series entitled Blade Runner: Black Lotus, which also preceded the feature chronologically, debuted in November of 2021.
Scott revealed that a television series set in the franchise was in development in 2021.
